IMHO the 150$ pay itself off in a matter of a few weeks if you print a lot. I have had a lot of models that took an hour or longe to be sliced, the same models are rady to print in less than 2 minutes in Simplif圓D.Ĭ) There are less options that you can / need to modify, most of the guesswrok is taken out by the program.ĭ) It might not be the fastest prints you ever made as the software changes speed according to the layer and it's complexitiy but in return you have no more messy prints or sagging parts.Į) The automatic repair functions make it possible to print models you downloaded without going to Netfabb for fixing them.į) Rotatig, scaling and placing parts is a breeze. Note also that the “ \n” parts of the code simply creates a new line in the GCode.You are right, 150 bucks sonds like a lot, no trial is usually enough reason never to consider buying the software.īut in his case I can not fully agree, for these reasons:Ī) It really produces very good prints with a near perfect surface, unlike Slicer or similar where you need to tweak settings for ages until all works out good enough.ī) The slicing is lightning fast. Of course, you will need to decide the layer number to pause at (more on this in a bit). In Simplif圓D, we will make use of the Process>Scripts>Post-Processing setting to enter the above Gcode (without the comments) as something like this: M0 Pause and wait for user input to continue the print G1 Z20 F5000 Lift the nozzle 20mm along Z axis, at speed of 5000mm/min So, this bit of code will be the ones which do all the magic: G91 Set to Relative Positioning
This quick guide is written to show how to do this in Simplif圓D but essentially, the gcodes used and approach will be the same for other slicers too. However, if you are running a lot of similar pieces which require consistency in swapping filaments partway through, editing the gcode to do just that can be very handy.
Sometimes it is possible to watch your 3d printer manually to do a pause and replace. Sometimes to add a little jazz to your 3d prints, you may want to change filaments halfway through.
